History

Hi, I’m Chromographia and I’m writing a novel.

In 2014, I drew some lines on a piece of art paper and made it into a map game. Each map would start from a small node, branching out into a world’s worth of land, sea, peoples, discoveries and conflicts. More and more narrative elements became incorporated into the games, leading to me eventually deciding to write a story based in a world I called Coracan – the proto-Sagamaya.

I made measurements, did some basic research and started worldbuilding. Three years later, I had finished a novel project and most of another. But, I was like 15, so they were…amateur.

In 2017, I started proto-Sagamaya chapters for this website. Like my previous two big projects related to this, I tried to write in a medieaval fantasy style. After a while, I realised it wasn’t working and completely rebooted the project. This time, I skipped several centuries from the old timeline and relocated the story to a modern island-city-state, Darana.

After a few months posting this new story that I was calling the ‘Daora Meredok story’, after its main character, I discovered a network of old-school original-content wiki-builder: the Omniverse Nexus. This alpha-version of Sagamaya underwent massive changes and developments as I adapted it to be part of a larger Dreamwalkers setting (focusing on dream magic and spirituality) within the Omniverse Nexus.

However, in 2020, the members of the Omniverse Nexus came to the collective conclusion that it was time to disband the wiki and spin-off or discontinue its settings. Since then, I’ve become more confident in my ideas as they continue to develop and mature. I came up with the name Sagamaya and firmly decided to one again reboot the project into a novel.

In particular, I would like to thank Krayfishkarl and Aetherlooms for helping build our projects together while they were part of the integrated Dreamwalkers setting. This collaboration greatly helped and sped up Sagamaya’s development into what it is now and what I hope it will become.

While the Omniverse Nexus may have been disbanded, that didn’t mean that I lost contact with all the people I wrote with while Sagamaya was part of the wiki. We keep in touch on a Discord server now dedicated to Sagamaya. You can join this server and closely follow the development process of my novel by clicking the Sagamaya button at the foot of this article. If you have Discord, that’s the easiest way to contact me.

Finally, thank you, for your interest in my novel project.
